Coming up in a couple weeks is the first annual MondoCon here in Austin. Mondo is a company that I've consulted for since they started their own vinyl soundtrack label. They're putting together their first convention celebrating art, posters, music, movies, and everything else in between. One of the featured albums we're releasing on vinyl is the original Alex North score for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968). It was rejected in favor of the pre-existing classical music we know in the film today.
To help celebrate the release, I'm going to be hosting a panel on North's music. I'm going to talk about the history behind the score and present some key scenes from the movie with North's music restored back into the film. It's going to be a magical moment for sure.
The panel is on Saturday, October 20th at 12:00PM at the Marchesa Theater in Austin, Texas.
