I've very pleased to announce that I will be the composer for The Mental Health Channel which is a documentary web series covering various topics of mental illness. What makes this particular project so special and unique is that I'll be composing music for 100-130 seven-minute episodes from now until the end of 2015. This is by far the biggest, longest, and most ambitious project I've ever been a part of. Best estimates suggest that I'll be composing at least 500 minutes of music!
This project reunites me with Austin-based producer and director Harry Lynch whom I've worked with multiple times including the IMAX™ film RIDE AROUND THE WORLD (2006) and one of my latest documentary scores, SWITCH (2012). It's always a pleasure working with Harry and the rest of his team at Arcos Films.
Even though there are so many episodes in this series, it should potentially be a "part-time" project. I should still have time each month to work on other things as they come along. I'll be doing 3-5 episodes a month from now until the end of next year. I've also got my engineer Matt Crawford and assistant Nate Rendon helping out as well.
The longest project I've ever worked on prior to this was probably five months. To have steady work from one project for more than 18 months is something that I've never experienced. Needless to say, it feels really good. I'm currently working on the first four episodes now and should be approaching completion on the first here in the next few days.
One (almost) down...somewhere between 99 and 129 to go!
